2024 Golf Events

9:00am Shotgun

Open to Men & Women ages 18 & older… Exclusive to all Abbey Springs owners and members, we would like to officially welcome everyone back to summer fun on the golf course!   This is event is an 18-hole scramble format.  Sign up on your own, with your significant other, or with the family!

1:45pm Shotgun

Abbey Springs will host the annual Member-Member Event (not to be confused with the Member Guest event later in July) with a new exciting format.  This event is open to all unit owners, public members, & men's league members. 

Format:  Modified Alternate Shot.  Each team hits their own tee shot, then they continue to switch balls and play alternate shot until both golf balls are hole out.  Score is combined stroke play.  We will take gross scores as well as net winners using handicaps.  Event may be flighted based on handicap, depending on participation.  Gross & Net.  All players who sign up must have a handicap if desiring to be considered in net scoring.

4:00pm (Schedule Your Tee Time)

All Ages and talents are welcome to join us this Thursday, July 4th. Starting at 4:30pm, we will Abbey Springs’ Firecracker Open.  This tournament is a 9-hole Par 3 challenge. We will set out tees ranging 135 yards or less for each hole. This is a great way to have some fun celebrating the fourth with the family.

4:00pm Start Time

Two-man teams will play alternate shot.  Teams will choose which player tees off first on the first hole.  Then, players will alternate turns taking shots until the golf ball is holed.  On the next hole, the other team player (the individual who did not tee off on the first hole) will be the one to tee off, and this pattern continues throughout the event.  All individuals in the  event play the same hole at the same time.  High score(s) will be eliminated after playing each hole.  Last team standing wins.  Sign up individually or the shop will try to pair  you up.  Limit first 20 teams to sign up.  Cost: $25 per person ($50 per team entry)

1:45PM Shotgun

This event is in anticipation of The Barracuda Championship at Old Greenwood Golf Course at Tahoe Mountain Club in Truckee, CA (July 18-21).  The Barracuda Championship is the only event on the PGA TOUR featuring the Modified Stableford scoring format. 

Rather than counting the total number of strokes taken as in typical stroke play golf, a Modified Stableford involves scoring points based on the number of strokes taken at each hole.  Good play earns points and poor play takes away points. Unlike traditional scoring methods where the aim is to have the lowest score, the objective in a Modified Stableford is to have the highest score. The number of points awarded on each hole is determined based on the comparison of the number of strokes to par. Once a player has taken two strokes more than par, a double bogey, they may pick up their ball as it is then not possible to score any points on that hole and he cannot lose any additional points. They can then resume play on the next hole. 

The strategy in Modified Stableford formats can, in most instances, be summed up in three words: Go for it. This scoring format rewards risk-taking on the golf course. For instance, if the professional is facing a carry over water that he normally wouldn’t try, the Modified Stableford format presents an incentive to go for it. A birdie is worth twice as many positive points (2) as a bogey is worth punitive points (-1). Eagles offer huge payoffs (5 points) and the worst a player could possibly do would be a double bogey (-3 points) at which point he could pick up his ball and carry on to the next hole. Those golfers who make a few bogeys but also make a lot of birdies or eagles are more likely to be atop the leaderboards.

Abbey Springs’ annual Member / Guest event is one of the most anticipated golf events of the year. The Member Guest is a yearly tradition, which allows owners to showcase the "Abbey Springs Experience" to their guests… and simply enjoy a day of fun, camaraderie & delicious food.  

A fun & competitive round of golf starts the day (along with a surprise tee gift) ... Shotgun start at 12:45pm with a 2-Player scramble format on the front 9, and a best ball format on the back 9... with the Famous Crab Leg dinner following at 5:45pm. 

This event is open to all Unit Owners, golf members & their guests. Men & Women both welcome.  Limit of one guest per  owner. As always, this event fills up fast, and availability is limited... that said, once signup is sent out in spring, availability will be on a first come, first serve basis.

4pm Consecutive Times

This alternate shot is two person teams comprised of Juniors (ages 16 & under) with either their mother or father.  This event is open to all Abbey Springs owners, golf members, relatives & friends.

9:00am Consecutive Start

Thursday Qualifier Round:  All applicants are welcome to sign up for Thursday’s Round.  Top Scores for each Flight will advance to Sunday’s Round.  Times to start at 1pm.

Friday Championship Round:  Qualifying scores will advance to Friday’s round.

8:30am Shotgun

In anticipation of the 2024 President’s Cup at Royal Montreal Golf Club in September, Abbey Spring is hosting their very own President’s Cup event.  This event is a competitive event in which golfers will play three formats, including a scramble, alternate shot, & best ball.  This event is open to ALL owners, golf members & league members. 

6/2, 6/9, 6/16, 6/23, 7/14, 7/21, 8/4, 8/18

Anytime after 4:30pm (all groups must schedule a tee time)

This year, Sunday Nights are family nights!  Keep your family unit strong by bonding while playing 9 holes of golfing fun!  Starting at 4:30pm, the golf course will be set up with kid friendly forward tees.  Starting at this time, families can play at a discounted family friendly rate.  To qualify for this rate, each group must be playing with at least one junior golfer ages 16 & Under.  Juniors must be accompanied by an adult.

Price:  Adults: $30ea*   Juniors: $20ea*

One of our most popular events of the season, Friday Niners is a couples “Nine & Dine” event on select Friday afternoons that aims to provide a laid back atmosphere while enjoying some social fun with other couples (Singles w/ significant other also welcome).  This event features 9 holes of golf with a fun game, followed by a delicious dinner across the street at the yacht club.  This event is open exclusively to Abbey Springs owners & members only.

6/30, 7/28, 8/25

Abbey Springs invites all owners and members to an exclusive event for individuals ages 50 & under.  On select Saturdays, enjoy 9 holes of laid-back golfing fun with other members, followed by appetizers & drinks after your round.  This is a great event to meet other members within Abbey Springs.  Come alone, or bring your significant other with you!

This Match Play Tournament is open to all Abbey Springs Owner and Members.  Match Play participants will compete in a season-long match play tournament (think “March Madness”).  Using a tournament bracket, individuals will advance to the next round with a match play victory over their opponent.  Each round date listed below.  If both individuals agree, opponents are welcome to schedule their round ahead of time on a different day (match cannot be played during Men’s League Play).  However, the Match must be played by the round deadline shown below.  If players are not able to schedule their match by the designated deadline, the person who cannot make the Wednesday event date will be eliminated.  If both participants cannot make the event date (or arrange a date earlier) both players will be eliminated.

Format:  18 Hole Matches – Match Play

Handicap:  Full Handicaps will be used

Tees: Dependent on Age / Handicap

Limited to the first 32 players to sign up. 

Round 1:  Wednesday, June 12 (Round of 32)

Round 2:  Wednesday, June 29 (Sweet 16)

Round 3:  Wednesday, July 10 (Elite 8)

Round 4:  Wednesday, July 24 (Final 4)

Round 5:  Wednesday, August 14 (Match Play Championship)
